DIPLOMA PROJECT
I have always had great interest in the human body and science in general. Therefore, this was an incredible opportunity to combine this interest with my biggest love: dance. For my Bachelor thesis, I researched proprioception in relation to dance. Proprioception is movement and position sense in the body, which is important for preventing injuries, recovery after an injury, and movement accuracy. For my project, I looked at several choreographies I performed previously, and performed those blindfolded. I asked other dancers and non-dancers to perform an experiment. And lastly I improvised blindfolded, while paying attention to the proprioceptive feedback that I received from my body. The result of which, you can find in my video.
BIOGRAPHY
My name is Manon, I was born in the Netherlands, and I started my dance journey there. Listening to, and following the dream of six-year old me to become a professional dancer , brought me to where I am today: an intern with MN Dance Company, completing my Bachelor at ZHdK. Along the way, I've had so many opportunities to learn more about myself, my interests, and how this shapes my dancing.
