How long have you been dancing and what do you love most about it?
I started my ballet journey at the age of three in a little ballet school near home. I just love everything about dancing. From the hard work in the studio, to the adrenaline rush when you enter the stage. I enjoy the partnerships and the group dynamics that we find and build in the studio and on stage. I also love giving my all to the audience and dancing from the heart.
What has been your most memorable moment at Zurich Dance Academy?
My most memorable moment during my time at taZ, must be the first “Curtain Up” performance in H1. We were very lucky to be dancing the ballet, “Napoli” with the older classes and I just remember being in awe of the amazing group dynamic and talent around me. I will never forget dropping my tambourine on stage and everyone being beautifully supportive and I felt so at home.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In 5 years from now, I want to be dancing and as happy as I am today. I hope to still be dancing with Staatsballett Berlin, with the amazing repertoire and people. I want to dance all the greats and work with amazing choreographers. But most of all, I want to find the balance, build a great life and be fulfilled outside of dance.
The best feeling on stage is for me…
I adore being on stage! The feeling of giving it your all and being vulnerable in front of a huge audience. The moments of eye contact with your partner or seeing how well your colleague is doing with you up there, are some of the most precious moments. I love working for something for months and then being on stage and just living the dance. On stage I feel like I can just be myself and make magic with my colleagues.
What piece of advice would you give younger dancers who are hoping to grow and achieve their dreams in dance?
Never shy away or hide what makes you special. Give every day your all and stay positive. Sometimes we can obsess about our imperfections, but in moments of insecurity we just need to close the mirror, imagine we are perfect and use that confidence to seize the day.
