Q&A WITH TAYANE SCHURTER
What does dance mean to you?
- For me, dance is the most human form of artistic expression, it is instinctive and raw.
What memory will you take with you from your time at ZHdK?
- Definitely the shows we had together as a class, sharing the stage with my peers is always very special, as well as my exchange semester in Los Angeles, where I had the chance to work with different artists.
Which work or choreographer particularly inspires you, and why?
- My favorite piece has to be Assembly Hall by Kidd Pivot, choreographed by Crystal Pite. I honestly have no words to fully describe it. It was the most mesmerizing dance performance I’ve ever seen. It combined extremely high-level dance, theater, and incredible stage design in a way that felt almost unreal. The use of layered music and voice recordings, which the dancers embodied on stage, made it one of the most powerful and unforgettable performances I’ve experienced.
