DIPLOMA PROJECT
My project, ‘[27] Endless Implications' is inspired by my fascination with human gestures. Some internationally understood, others used to emphasize, express compassion, or convey hostility. Within the creation process I asked myself, ‘how can we understand each other through the physicality of our gestures?' and, ‘how can we, in the same breath, misunderstand each other?' This video seeks to translate everyday societal gestures into movement, reimagining them as a form of dance to reflect both their meaning and their ambiguity.
BIOGRAPHY
I'm Sophie Elizabeth Larson, a dancer, teacher, and choreographer from the US. I moved to Switzerland to study contemporary dance here at ZHdK, where I was able to work with renowned choreographers and tour in Europe. The people I connected with at ZHdK and around Switzerland have had a beautifully special impact on my life, something that I will cherish forever. During my internship year, I worked with Joshua Monten Dance Company and Amorphous Dance Company, as well as took part in diverse projects in Switzerland and Europe. My vision is to continue growing as a performer and artist here in Europe while expanding my teaching abilities and choreographic voice both in the United States and internationally.
