How long have you been dancing and what do you love most about it?
I first started dancing when I was 6 years old, first with tap, then jazz, and then finally, and now only ballet. One part I love about dance is the determination and strength that comes with it. I really enjoy coming into the studio and working every day to become a better dancer and person. When I am dancing it allows me to escape and forget about everything else.
What has been your most memorable moment at Zurich Dance Academy?
Of course, competing in the Prix de Lausanne was a dream come true, and a week that I will never forget. I felt that I improved so much and the connections, friendships and inspiration I gained will remain with me forever. More importantly, I will forever cherish my time spent with my classmates in and out of the studio, especially dancing in the aisle of those many bus rides, the days by the lake, and just being around together at the boarding house, these people have become and will always be my second family.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I hope to have a lot of stage experience and continue to better myself as a dancer and person, dancing somewhere around the world, surrounded by people that make me happy.
The best feeling on stage is for me…
Performing gives me so much adrenaline, getting to show people all of my hard work and passion is something that you can’t get from anything else. Getting to see the audience clap for you, and afterwards meeting your friends and family in the foyer will never get old.
What piece of advice would you give younger dancers who are hoping to grow and achieve their dreams in dance?
Life will always work itself out. I repeated my first year at taZ, and at the time I wasn’t sure if it was the right decision, but now after getting into Norwegian National Ballet and the Prix de Lausanne, I now know that it happened for a reason, even for the better. There will always be obstacles in your life, but they are there for a reason to make you stronger.
