Q&A WITH ESTEFANIA GUAJARDO LIVAS
What does dance mean to you?
- Dance is the art of expression through movement. Dance means sacrifice, of leaving your loved ones for a passion, it means pain, endurance, but also joy, and satisfaction. Dance means willing to show up tired, stressed, and angry, but is the most rewarding profession you will encounter. Without the art of dancing, I fear that I would not be able to express myself as well as I do through movement, or find anything else I am so passionate about.
What memory will you take with you from your time at ZHdK?
- There is not one memory I could pick apart from my time in taZ because they all hold a special place in my heart. I will always remember my time in taZ as a whole, a learning experience and people I will cherish my whole life. I will never forget all the lessons I learned, and laughs with my colleagues during warm up. All in all I will always remember taZ as a pillar in my life and cheerful path I came across
Which work or choreographer particularly inspires you, and why?
- A work I particularly am amazed by is "The Second Detail" by William Forsythe. The process and self discovery of doing this piece is astonishing, learning how to push the boundaries of your own body and limitations whilst still keeping the choreography is one of the hardest challenges I have faced so far. Dancing this piece, although challenging, is extremely rewarding and fufilling.
