How long have you been dancing and what do you love most about it?
Since I was 4 years old- so 15 years now. What I love most is the freedom with which I can express myself and create things that far exceed the capabilities of human language- things that can only be conveyed through art and dance.
What has been your most memorable moment at Zurich Dance Academy?
Having been at the academy for a third of my life, I feel like I grew up here- making countless core memories along the way, so it's hard to choose one.
However, these past few months working with Filipe Portugal on creating and performing his new Carmen production, shoulder to shoulder with soloists and principal dancers, has definitely been a memorable highlight, and amazing experience.
Although, what made all the moments here truly memorable, was experiencing and sharing them with my friends.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Enjoying dance and performing exciting, diverse productions with a company where I feel at home. Growing, learning and evolving into the dancer and human I aspire to be, while further exploring who I am and what my art is.
The best feeling on stage is for me…
When, after all the work and rehearsals, you finally step on stage and all other thoughts and feelings disappear- you just dance. That brief moment you get to enjoy performing, sharing it with the audience and along your friends, is truly rewarding.
What piece of advice would you give younger dancers who are hoping to grow and achieve their dreams in dance?
Believe. No matter how challenging it gets, how many hardships you face and how hopeless it might seem at times- always believe. In your -self, ability, opinion, intuition, and worthiness. When you do, without resistance, everything will come together, make sense and happen for you.
