    Q&A WITH GODA BUDREVIČIŪTĖ
What does dance mean to you?
    - Why do I dance? The answer is simple: at first, I did not choose dance – dance chose me. It has always been in my blood, in my veins. My grandparents met through dance; they were dance partners. My father and his sister were dancers throughout their school years. When I was younger, I never planned a professional career, yet ballet came naturally to me, and I succeeded in it from an early age. With every step, my love for dance grew stronger, and I received great encouragement to follow this path. I was fortunate to have a teacher who believed in me endlessly from the age of nine – a teacher who gave me wings. She prepared me for this journey and guided me toward places where I could grow even further, always pushing me to reach my highest potential. At just ten years old, I won a bronze medal at my very first international competition – Grasse, France. I remember seeing older girls who looked like shining stars to me, and in that moment, I realized that dreams could be bigger than fear. At eleven, I competed in the YAGP Finals in New York. Stepping onto the stage of the David Koch Theater felt like entering a fairy tale. Its greatness and beauty enchanted me instantly and left a mark on my heart for a long time. My dance journey is what makes me truly happy. Each day in the studio is a gift – not only the destination, but every step of the path brings me joy. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a doctor and never imagined that I would heal people in a completely different way – through the most beautiful art I have ever known: dance. Today, I understand that dance is not only my path, but a part of who I am.

What memory will you take with you from your time at ZHdK?
    - One of the memories that will stay with me for a very long time is our trip and the few day we got to spend in Spoleto, Italy. In the end of our second year of taZ together with the BA1 students we went on tour to Spoleto, Italy to perform "Bolero X' by Shahar Binyamini. During our time there we got to create many beautiful memories, see the wonderful city of Spoleto, dance on a stage outside for the very first time, and on top of all that, I got to celebrate my 18th birthday surrounded by people I love, doing what I love – dancing.

Which work or choreographer particularly inspires you, and why?
    - In my years of taZ I had a chance to discover many different choreographers and choreographies, they all taught me something new, shaped me and made me the dancer I am today. Although I found something I liked in all the choregrapies we learned and styles or choreographers we worked with, my biggest discovery was William Forsythe. Even though you're not impersonationg someone or showing clear emotions, there's so much energy flowing through your body, that it fills the stage, catches the audiences' eyes. You dance and move past your limits, never stop discovering yourself, find new ways of moving, feeling, sensing. For now my body has only been familiar with Forsythes work for about a year, and Iit has already brought so much influence on me and my dancing
