DIPLOMA PROJECT
Traces of before linger in the unseen. The body moves, and memory unfolds. Gestures arise, subtle, almost invisible. Yet in the eyes, in the bodies, they are indestructible. Each step brings a fragment of what was lived, of what was felt. The hands echo the past, the gaze seeks what was loved. Everything reshapes. Can memory dance? Can what we were live again in what we are now?
BIOGRAPHY
Hello! My name is Helena Gonçalves.
I'm 22 years old, originally from Lisbon, Portugal.
My dance journey is a crossroads of unique discoveries.
I began my training in Lisbon and later, in 2022, moved to Zurich to begin my bachelor studies.
I cherish that time deeply.
It made me realize that being an artist isn't about having all the answers, but about staying open and focused, staying present.
Dance helps me stay connected to the world, and to myself. It is not merely structured movement, but an embodied practice of feeling, sensing, and responding.
Now, in my third year, I'm doing my internship with Ballet Plauen Zwickau.
With each step, I explore more, rooted in curiosity and open to what comes next.
