Mario Garcia Ramos
Mario García Ramos (Toledo, 1997) is a Spanish conductor and pianist
based in Oslo and Zurich. He has been an active member from 2021 to 2023
of the elite national program for professional conductors Dirigentforum,
Talent Norge in Norway.
In February 2023 he obtained the 3rd place in the finale of the first national
competition for young directors in Spain (Musical Youth of Spain 1st edition)
conducting one of Spain’s most renowned orchestras, Orquesta Sinfonica de
Castilla y Leon in Valladolid.
García Ramos began his studies at the Toledo Jacinto Guerrero professional
conservatory at an early age. He completed the professional degree with
honors, mentions and awards. Later he moved to Salamanca to study piano
with Patrín García Barredo at the Coscyl (higher music conservatory of
Castilla y León). As a pianist he has played in Germany, Poland and Spain
and recorded an album with ORCAM viola soloist Iván Martin Mateu (Atitlán,
Youkali music). His recordings have been played on Spanish national radio
on classical radio.
García Ramos moved to Oslo in 2017 where he studied at the Norges
Musikkhøgskole (Norwegian National Music Academy) with Professor Ole
Kristian Ruud and finished his degree in Orchestral Conducting in 2022.
Despite his young age, García Ramos has conducted the most important
professional orchestras in Norway in masterclasses, such as the Stavanger
Symphony Orchestra, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Hærens
Musikkorps, the Norwegian National Military Band, the Oslo Chamber
Orchestra and musicians of the Oslo Philharmonic and Norwegian National
Opera (Opera)
He received classes from great maestros such as Johannes Schlaefli, Nicolai
Schneider, Nicolás Pasquet, Johannes Schlaefli, Eivind Gullberg Jensen,
Michael Halls, Vasily Petrenko Jorma Panula and Sakari Oramo among
others.
Currently, García Ramos is studying a master's degree in conducting at the
Zurich University of the Arts with the renowned professors Cristoph-Mathias
Müller and Johannes Schlaefli
