Biografie
Jana Eske works at the intersection of culture and education in the fields of curatorial research, collaborative project development and cultural promotion. At the Zurich University of the Arts she is fundraising manager at the Immersive Arts Space. Before she coordinated and co-developed collaborative projects in Art and Design Education and Research at the Departement of Cultural Analyses and Education. She works as a cultural manager for www.agendabasel.ch, a website that promotes cultural activities in Basel. Before she was the head of the Swiss Cultural Challenge, a supportive program for young designers and artist at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel. From 2009 to 2013, she taught as research associate at the University of the Arts Berlin and co-developed as part of the Creative Alliance Partners the FeldForschungsFestival_Kultur at the Berlin Academy of Arts.
Her activities include curatorial research projects and exhibitions such as Staging Dioramas at GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig, Returning to Sender at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin as well as Play, Paper, Scissors – Journey to Everyday Objects at the at the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskyla and Finnish Industrial Design at Design Musem in Helsinki. In cooperation with ELIA, she realized three editions of the exhibition NEU | NOW www.neunow.eu/ with young international artists between 2015 and 2017 in Basel. Her video works have been presented in vanues and art spaces such as the Videonale 10 at the Bonn Museum of Modern Art, De Nachten at De Singel in Antwerpen and at the Moscow International Biennial for Young Art. 2017 she was a research candidate at Tokyo Wonder Site in Japan. She has been supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, DAAD, the Baden Würtemberg Foundation and the Kunststiftung Baden Würtemberg.
In 2020, Jana Eske completed her CAS in Museum Studies at the University of Freiburg, in 2015 her Master of Arts in the Cultures of the Curatorial at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and 2007 her Diplom in Media Art at the Academy of Art and Design in Karlsruhe. During her studies she was a scholar at the MA program Aalto Media Lab and at CCS Bard, New York.
