Biografie
Elena Barba (b. 1996) is a Greek visual artist and writer. Her practice is multidisciplinary and delves into issues and themes related to the complexities of representation, conflict and language. Using both analogue and digital media, she creates installations that juxtapose contemporary motifs and behaviors with a series of fictional and real facts. Her texts are poetic while contemplating historical impossibilities or intimate matters, whereas photography and sculpture are used as a documentation of charged encounters such as unforeseen accidents, physical disasters and love letters- often founded on ethical complications and social asymmetries. All of the above are seen as spatial methodologies for constructing an intimate language that interplays distance and proximity and for distorting history & politics to present mundane moments.
