In their project โThe Unfinished Business of Living Togetherโ, they explore contemporary forms of coexistence, conditions and possibilities of tolerance and belonging as well as forms of social division.
For the first time, the Swiss contribution to the Biennale was chosen in an open competition. 140 projects were submitted.

The 12 work grants in the visual arts were awarded in 2024 in an extraordinary procedure. As an exception, the Canton of Zurich's Cultural Affairs Office is foregoing a retrospective and the presentation of original works, and has instead been judging the submissions based on studio visits that focus on the artistic processes.
Mohamed Almusibli impressed the selection committee with his professional career to date, in particular as co-founder and director of the independently run, non-commercial art space Cherish in Geneva, as well as with his close connections to contemporary artists, his innovative approach to the use of new technologies, his knowledge of the local art scene and his personality.
In addition, he convinced the selection committee with his proposed program for Kunsthalle Basel, which presents exciting emerging practices while creating a dialogue with historical positions. Mohamed Almusibli also brings with him a broad international network.
