Boarding School

The boarding school owned by the school is affiliated with Zurich Dance Academy. It provides accommodation and a home away from home for 45 children and young people who are completing their education at Zurich Dance Academy. The boarding school offers fully and partly supervised residential units that are all housed under one roof. The children and young people receive round-the-clock support and supervision from professional staff members. The common room is available for joint activities with a variety of leisure facilities.
The Zurich Dance Academy boarding school is located in Zurich’s District 8 and is most easily reached by public transport. There are local shopping facilities accessible on foot and a few minutes away on public transport. The nearby forest and the short distance to Lake Zurich are sure to provide many opportunities for you to relax in your free time.

Professional supervision

All members of the boarding school staff have completed teacher training at tertiary level or have related qualifications. The staff look after the children and young people according to their age, providing them with as much support as necessary and as much independence as possible. Each residential unit is assigned a supervisor.

Levels of supervision

The care and supervision of the children and young people living in the boarding school is divided into three levels: full supervision, partial supervision and assisted living.

  1. Full supervision:
    provided during the first year of residence at the boarding school and during completion of the foundation study programme.

  2. Partial supervision:
    students transfer to partial supervision from their second year of residence onwards, provided they have reached the right level of maturity and independence, but at the earliest when moving onto the main study programme.

  3. Assisted living:
    subject to availability, students transfer to shared accommodation when moving into their third year of the EFZ training (minimum age 16 years). 

Nutrition and medical supervision

The boarding school works with internal and external nutrition experts. Meals catered to the dietary needs of dancers are prepared daily in the in-house kitchen.
The boarding school also has strong links with specialists from all medical fields. Boarding school students are accompanied to appointments as requested or where deemed necessary.

Boarding school management

The boarding school is professionally managed by Joachim Stahl. He is responsible for the pedagogical aspects of the institution and works closely with the directors of the Zurich Dance Academy.
