Leaving friends, loved ones and one’s home – a sad song is the starting point for a project in which text and image are to be combined. Seriousness and depth are also recurring elements in her pictures. As a photographer, Johanna Encrantz was able to draw on an extensive archive of her own images and combine them with the chosen lyrics.
The mono spaced font New Courier was chosen to evoke the impression of a manuscript. Intermediate tones appear in the form of punctuation and special characters, and a layout grid is used in a variety of ways. The result is a 16-page LP booklet in which text and image come together and yet each tell their own story.
