Widower Karlsen runs an antiquarian bookshop with his daughter Lara. But she wants to move out of their shared apartment. When Karlsen finds an old children's book during the move, he sinks into nostalgia. He asks Lara to keep it, but she throws it away and accuses him of not being able to let go. Back in the store, he lets his anger get the best of him, rips books off the shelves at random, and finally sinks to the floor, exhausted. The store remains closed. Lara finds him at her mother's memorial. He confesses to her that he wants to turn to a new future.
