DIPLOMA PROJECT
I thought many times of quitting dance. Every time it was for a different reason, but I always changed my mind. Every time I had that thought, somehow I would reconnect with my inner child, that little girl that fell in love with dancing and that always made me change my decision. I decided to focus my project on reconnecting with that feeling that most of the time is lost, or at least forgotten, in adults. I want to show the joyfulness that dance can bring, without technique, strict schematism, and systems. That's something that, for me, only a child can show, because they are the only ones to see reality in its purity. So, I collected my memories and my friends' and I tried to present what dance can be and was. I think I wanted this project to be a reminder, mainly for me, but also for whoever will watch it, that it doesn't always have to be serious. Sometimes we need to be ugly, silly and stupid in order to find ourselves.
BIOGRAPHY
HI! I am Irene, or Reni to my friends, and I come from a small village in Italy. My connection with dance has always been very strong, whenever there was music, I had the urge to move. So, at the age of 5, my mom brought me to my first dance class. I moved a lot around because of dance, first to Livorno, when I was 16, and then to Zurich almost three years ago. Now I'm living in Pforzheim, Germany, for my internship. Through my years of training, I've discovered many strong and weak points of myself, but they all helped me build the dancer and artist that I am now. It was never an easy path, rather full of obstacles, but I'm sure I'm willing to know what the future has ready for me.
