DIPLOMA PROJECT
The dancers sway in the unstable installation, unfolding a picture that revolves around power, inequality. In the writing of the body and dance sequences images of the social frameworks that exist are presented one by one. In these relationships we explore and experiment with ways to escape and subvert these sequences and controls. We will establish a strong connection and create a dialogue with reality again in the hard boiled wonderland.
BIOGRAPHY
Manning Dong is a dancer and choreographer. After completing BA ballet performance in Shanghai Theatre Academy,she joined Suzhou Ballet as a soloist, where she won the First Prize and Best Performance Award at ballet grand prix vienna. She travelled to Austria to study contemporary dance and now doing MA choreography in University of the Arts Zurich. She is also a registered trainner of Gyrokinesis®.
She was a member of the ATLAS choreography programme at the Impulstanz Festival 2024 Vienna and interned as an assistant at the Semperoper in Dresden. She has performed her own works at the Grätsche festival, kulturmarkt, etc. Her work ‘SHUI LAND' from the Urban Water project will soon be performed at Zurich Tanzt and About us.
She is interested in interdisciplinary collaborative work. She uses physicality, sociality and self-exploration as choreographic tools in the hope that the public will perceive the emotional core and message of the work.
