In the centre of a white cardboard model we see a cube slowly turning around its own axis. The cube is illuminated from right, left and overhead by controllable LED light sources. In addition to the interplay of the three LED light sources, light combinations from the cube’s shadows and coloured surfaces are cast onto the walls of the model. These combinations constantly change as the cube rotates. The use of a cube with coloured surfaces yields new design possibilities. Dynamic are created from the interplay of the coloured light and surface colours, which can be adjusted.
The simple arrangement is well suited to experimentation with additive and subtractive colour combinations and spatial colour effects. The phenomena described can be systematically examined using the model and applications for architecture, percent-for-art projects or stage productions can also be tested.
