Schmock,Studio Sherut (Marie Jaksch, Lenja Schultze, Charlotte Oeken, Joscha Faralisch),Lenja Schultze

The performance and installation work “Schmock 2” interprets and analyses the former Munich restaurant of the same name as part of Jewish contemporary history in Germany and as an example of the staging, commercialization and politicization of culture as a (gastronomical) consumer good. As part of a twelve-hour performance, the project presents the reopening of the restaurant that was closed down as a result of anti-Semitic hostility. In collaboration with artists* from Germany and Israel, an artistic commentary on anti-Semitism in Germany, stereotyping and the issue of archiving and remembrance work is developed as a counterpoint to the animated discourse taking place. These issues are pursued in an associated exhibition.
