Implementing tools from the field of Elementary Music Education, “Meleté” transfers fundamental musical knowledge and experience to music educators and children’s groups. The teachers of this project, Soma Salat-Zakariás and Sara Franchini, also the responsible persons for the “Meleté”-project and students at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) – Profile Music and Movement, Master of Arts in Elementary Music Education –, command pedagogical and artistic skills necessary to meet the demands of extended music teaching with groups consisting of persons of all ages.
The realisation of „Meleté“ involves promoting age-appropriate and pedagogically sound formats, providing joy through mutual music making, in new environments through tools made available by the discipline of Elementary Music Education. For this purpose Soma Salat-Zakariás und Sara Franchini to date travelled twice to Sfântu Georghe in Romania (2016 and 2017) in order to teach children’s groups and provide further education for local teachers.
Since 2017 the Zurich University of the Arts supports „Meleté“, together with the “Székely National Museum” / “Székely Nemzeti Múzeum” as external partner – which offers local logistical support, provides facilities and staff and recruits the participating children’s groups. The contact person at the “Székely National Museum” is Bartha Zonga.
