In correspondence to the exhibition "Designpreis Schweiz 2011" in Designforum Steiermark, the colour-light-center of the Zurich University of the Arts has developed a work for the BIX media facade of the Graz Art Museum: the focus is on the urban objectuality of the building, which becomes an interactive game of light. A 3d-model of the Art Museum will be illuminated in a live performance with different light sources, which will be transmitted directly to the media facade. The Art Museum reflects this capture of light and shadow with the modulation of its own lights.
The light body project illustrates two properties of the light: firstly, to capture forms and to model them in light and shadow, in brightness and darkness. On the other hand, light is shown as performer and activator: the Art Museum becomes at the same time a projection surface, as well as projecter.
The installation encourages to play with the 3d-model resulting in an immediate intervention in the city. Everyone can participate in the interactive performance on 10.05.2012 from 8 pm and help shape the urban space with a simple flashlight!
