The era of manuscripts and handwritten texts is long gone. Nowadays, design norms almost exclusively revolve around printed matter, making the act of reproducing texts by hand seem rather absurd. Somewhere between ancestral practices and contemporary technologies, the question of automated calligraphy arises, which would substitute hand movements with mechanical ones. Using a CNC pen plotter to reproduce texts, this restrictive and slower method has an impact on the perception of the book as an object or a container of information. It influences notions of scarcity, preciousness and accessibility.
