    Hive Mind

    Spielerisch Veränderungsprozesse im Unternehmen begreifen

CAS Games & Play in Virtual Spaces

Hive Mind, Céline Neubig, Zürcher Hochschule der Künste

How can game mechanics help to re-imagine organisational structures when business realities shift? In her work as a management consultant, the student has been using playful methods for over ten years to promote creative solutions and new ways of thinking. During the ‘CAS Games & Play in Virtual Spaces’, she wanted to deepen this knowledge and to equip herself with a design methodology. This culminated in the board game prototype ‘Hive Mind’.
The game uses the world of bees as a narrative analogy for structure, leadership and strategy. This framework helps to convey issues of corporate organisation in a tangible way and translate them into a relatable gaming experience. Through her own research, examination of comparable board games and intensive playtesting, the concept was refined in several iterations. Specially designed game materials, whose reduced colour palette gives the prototype a clear and distinctive style, contribute to the gaming experience.
Hive Mind explores how questions of strategy and change can be translated into experience through storytelling and game mechanics. In the form of a collaborative board game, the prototype stimulates dialogue about organisational development.
