Tectonic Shifts / Metabolic Rifts,Daniel Schwartz

“Tectonic Shifts / Metabolic Rifts” is an art project that questions the naturalization of catastrophes
within different cultural contexts. It has a global focus, based on artistic research and activities I
have conducted in Switzerland, Turkey, and Japan. The Avina Fund’s support would assist me to
create a video installation and photographic series that will be displayed for my MFA Diploma
Exhibition in June 2019. These works will be made in collaboration with a network of other artists,
researchers, and artistic organizations that have already committed to supporting the project.
