Gallery education and the critique of representation - an explorative study
With the aim of a preliminary analysis, the study collects and examines materials for representational purposes from ten educational departments in museums internationally to provide insights concerning the qualities and forms of representation material as well as the corpus construction.
Gallery education and the critique of representation - an explorative study
The explorative study approaches representation practices of gallery education, a field that hasn't been the focus of research until now. With the aim of a preliminary analysis, the study collects and examines materials for representational purposes from ten educational departments in museums internationally (A, G, F, GB, NL). Exemplary analysis provided insights concerning the qualities and forms of representation material, as well as the corpus construction for a broader study. The study also tests and defines methods of analysis for this field. In its concept of the critique of representation the study refers to approaches from the field of visual cultural studies.
