Sounding Influencer V.4: Man – Machine - Interaction (MMI) explores the influence of movement and stillness of both, dancer and pendulum, on the sound field. In the performance RaumKlangKörper (SpaceSoundBody) a composition was being created from these different modalities.
Sounding Influencer V.4: Man – Machine - Interaction (MMI) is the fourth research project with the kinetic sound sculpture Sounding Influencer, which consists of four pendulums with a loudspeaker being attached on their lower end.
The research explores the influence of movement and stillness of both, dancer and pendulum, on the sound field.
Two pendulums are being used from which sinetones with different pitches are being played. The pendulums are manually set into motion by a dancer.
Changes in amplitude become perceptible when the pendulum is still and the dancer in motion. When the pendulum is being set in motion and the dancer is still, changes in amplitude as well as shifts in frequency become clearely perceptible. When both are in motion the acoustic effects being evoked by the pendulum cover those being evoked by the movements of the dancer.
The acoustic changes are especially well perceptibel when the sound field consists of one or two standing waves.
In the performance RaumKlangKörper (SpaceSoundBody) a composition was being created from these different modalities.
