In Switzerland, the differences between the German-, French-, and Italian-speaking populations can sometimes be seen in relation to the theatre too. But do these manifests themselves as soon as professional actors start their training at university level?
The project entitled 'Polycultural Switzerland as Illustrated by Actors' Training' investigated – by observing lessons – the differences and similarities between the four university-level acting courses on offer in Switzerland (Zurich University of the Arts, Bern University of the Arts, La Manufacture Lausanne, Scuola Teatro Dimitri Verscio). The aim was to research the relationship between the respective culturally distinct regions and the artistic/aesthetic positions adopted by the universities. With the help of video documentation, the practical instruction given was analysed systematically using bottom-up principles.
