    Gamification in the Theater

Institute for the Performing Arts and Film (IPF)

Optimizing of a software for Audience Response for audience participation in theater.

Building on the preceding project Aufbauend „Audience Response“ we are striving to construct a theatrical experimental setting and a setting for artistic research on audience as co-creators of the play. While in preceding explorations we have dealt with concepts of  interaction, feedback-loops and participation, we are now focussing on gamification: How can we highten the efficiacy of the audience to create a strong immersive experience? For this we again use a software tool for audience polling, an Audience Response Systems (OMBEA Response Pads), optimizing it for gamification. While until now polling meant an interruption of the performance and the immersion, the new setting is offering an interface that will allow for dynimic polling without stopping the performance.
