    Artistic Research and Theater

Institute for the Performing Arts and Film (IPF)

The project profiled the research focus in 'performative practice' from a conceptual and methodological perspective by means of a series of interrelated research and development activities and placed it in the context of the debate surrounding artistic research into the performing arts at a national and international level. Research involving theatre was undertaken here in the form of experimental pilot projects (research residency) and events in the areas of research known as 'Theatre as Expertise' and 'The Stage as a Laboratory', as well as being contextualised within the current discourse surrounding research and communicated both during events within the department and in the discourse taking place among experts at international level. A number of project initiatives emerged from this within the Department of Performing Arts and Film, as well as collaborations with research institutions (including collaborations with UCSB, the University of Bochum, the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, the University of Cambridge/Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities).
