ZHdK has opted for an iterative and collaborative strategy process. The โ€˜ZHdK Strategy 2024ff โ€“ Shaping the future with agilityโ€™ aims to continuously work on the strategic direction to achieve the greatest possible impact โ€“ and to do so with the close involvement of all interested university members. It is developing in the fields of action of โ€˜General frameworkโ€™, โ€˜Cultureโ€™, โ€˜Service provisionโ€™ and โ€˜University-wide domains and processesโ€™.

The Research Dossier acts in line with the strategy and actively contributes to advancing and implementing the priorities and fields of action set out in the strategy.

The following describes the priorities that receive special attention in the area of research.

    General framework

The Research Dossier will pursue the goal of ยซexploring the model of an arts universityยป by actively promoting the general framework for supporting and developing young researchers, especially doctoral students in artistic, artistic-scientific and scientific doctoral projects, and by developing corresponding implementation recommendations and support offers. It is also essential to interlink the areas of teaching and research in the arts more closely in the future and to foster dialogue between them.

    Culture

For ZHdK, trusting cooperation is essential. This is also actively supported in the Research Dossier. The dossier embraces a culture of open cooperation, collegial development and cultural change. It creates spaces, exchanges, meeting places and opportunities for participation and is responsible for providing an appropriate framework for research.

In the area of open access and open science, the research portfolio supports values such as openness, participation, a culture of constructive criticism and transparency.

    Service provision

In the area of service provision, the research portfolio works to promote a broad spectrum of innovation concepts and creative diversity in research and in the arts. It promotes an expanded understanding of innovation and transfer and makes this visible to ZHdK.

It also expands transfer orientation by enabling various transfer methods, topics and practices.

By strengthening and supporting cooperation and further developing EU funding, the research portfolio supports ZHdK's international orientation in research.

Quality standards are discussed in all areas of research. Among other things, alternative paths and assessments are being developed in the areas of promoting young talent and output.

    University-wide domains and processes

In order to fulfil the strategic goal of โ€˜expanding personnel policy, personnel development and the promotion of young talentโ€™, the Research Dossier is working to enable artistic professorships and professorships with multiple performance mandates that are appropriately equipped in terms of research workload. It supports staff development in research, teaching and the development and exploration of the arts, which are interrelated and enable young talents to develop at ZHdK in this way.
