Knowledge and technology transfer in the arts takes place between a range of disciplines as well as between actors and the public sphere. The term «actors» includes artists, designers and educators, who study, train or work at ZHdK, i.e. «everyone» at the university who is active in the arts, design and education.
However, the existing transfer potential in the arts, design and education is not evident at first glance. Transfer in the arts is characterized by different approaches. The arts per se create a «cultural dimension». However, unlike traditional technology transfer, they are open in terms of their outcomes and reciprocal in nature.
Besides the «cultural dimension», ZHdK also sees a particular relevance in promoting (media-related) technological innovation and creative diversity in research and the arts. Its strategic objective is to build on and expand its transfer orientation. This includes research collaborations, entrepreneurial involvement of the economy, e.g.in the case of start-ups, and customized development and research from the economy and society.
The decision as to when and how to develop a transfer project from a specific research project is a special step for researchers. At the beginning of a project, many factors are still unclear and some of the findings are still hidden, while at the end of the project there is little time for transfer. The objective is to jointly overcome these challenges with comprehensive information and timely advice.
The Research Dossier would like to use the existing multidimensional transfer paths and prepare services that support researchers within the dimensions of transfer.
