The institute generates, initiates and supports research projects that address both fundamental and applied research questions, and help to establish a dialogue between scientific and artistic approaches. The subject areas can be broken down into research about art, research through art and research using art. In that sense, performative and cinematographic methods are not only analysed as cultural strategies but also tested out as techniques for carrying out research.
