With Love: Movimento e Parola per una Comunicazione Amorosa
  • Passioned song (Revised)

Movement and words converge in a workshop exploring loving communication as part of Viviani's doctoral research "With Love: De/Re-Construction of the Loving Discourse." Drawing inspiration from Roland Barthes' "Fragments d'un Discours Amoureux," the work shifts focus from the individual lover to attributing the quality of love to discourse itself. The research adopts a "reasoned chaotic methodology" that embraces messiness as a creative approach to understanding love through artistic, philosophical, and scientific perspectives.

"With Love: Movimento e Parola per una Comunicazione Amorosa", Italian for Movement and Words for a Loving Communication, is a workshop and the initial experiment of my doctoral project titled "With Love: De/Re-Construction of the Loving Discourse". The subtitle of my research draws inspiration from Roland Barthes' "Fragments d'un Discours Amoureux" commonly known as Lover's Discourse. Opting for the Italian translation, Discorso Amoroso, and re-translating it back to English, moving from Lover's to Loving Discourse, shifts the focus from the individual to attributing the quality of love to the discourse itself. It is a work about love done with love. Research, in my specific case at least, is like writing to the beloved, as Barthes would say – messy. However, this messiness does not involve disregarding the artistic, philosophical, and scientific fields I did and will encounter and study during the process, instead, it denotes a reasoned chaotic methodology, as Jack Halberstam suggests: "[u]nder certain circumstances failing, losing, forgetting, unmaking, undoing, unbecoming, not knowing may, in fact, offer more creative, more cooperative, more surprising ways of being in the world".

Passioned song (Revised)

I planted a small tree
Nurturing it with pain and sweat.
A blast of wind then…
and all the fruits are changing color.
… … and they all
They were sweet and have turned bitter
And then say “Listen young lover,
hold dear the bitter things"
And as bitter as you are
I love you
I love you and you make me ???
