Vision and mission statement

VISION

Starting point

  • The ZHdK PreCollege Music programme consists of two different offerings: PreCollege Music and K+S Rämibühl in collaboration with the Rämibühl Art and Sports Gymnasium. Both programmes are part of the ZHdK PreCollege Music programme and an integral part of the preparatory education offered by the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and the Department of Music. The PreCollege offers an individual curriculum for all Bachelor's programmes in the Department of Music at ZHdK. 

Inspiring environment

  • Music studies at the ZHdK take place at one of the largest integrated art universities in Europe. The campus offers young students and all those involved an inspiring environment surrounded by a wide variety of artistic fields, with outstanding opportunities to successfully prepare for university studies within an active network. 

Individuality

  • The PreCollege Music programme at ZHdK is flexible, permeable, in-depth and practice-oriented: young students have the opportunity to attend a tailor-made programme that is optimally adapted to their interests, abilities, current school environment and future study aspirations. 

University implementation as an opportunity

  • The programme is run by lecturers from the University of Music and features content from the University, enabling young students to familiarise themselves with the environment of a music degree and its requirements before they even start their studies. Inspiring exchanges with students and lecturers boost motivation and strengthen individual skills in the preparation process for a bachelor's entrance examination. 

Support in the main subject

  • Each young student receives individual support, with the learning environment playing a central role before the start of the PreCollege. Successful support in the main subject by previous teachers outside the ZHdK is encouraged and continued as desired. This promotes the empowerment of suitable teachers in the area and strengthens Switzerland as a centre for music education. 

Quality 

  • The ZHdK PreCollege Music team learns every day and grows from the experiences of all those involved. Content and processes are discussed, evaluated and updated using appropriate platforms.
