Biography
Leonard Lampert, born 1996 in Gieรen, studied Musicology and Art History in Frankfurt am Main and Graz. Currently, he lives in Zurich, where he has been pursuing a Masterโs in Dramaturgy at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) since 2022. His artistic work focuses on interdisciplinary theater, opera, dance, and musically driven performance art.
His previous experience includes production internships at the Frankfurt Opera, the Dรผsseldorf Festival 2021, and work as an assistant director at the Halle (Saale) Opera and the National Theatre in Zagreb. He has collaborated there with directors such as Katharina Thoma, Caterina Panti Liberovici, Katharina Kastening, and British director Keith Warner.
His own works include, among others, a synthetic theatrical piece titled "Fugenspiel" (Fugue Play), which incorporates the textual framework of Thomas Bernhard's "Old Masters" (Alte Meister) with general compositional techniques of musical fugue structure, as well as impressions of the Lithuanian composer and painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis into an interdisciplinary production. He also dramaturgically supports the new production of the multimedia dance opera "Mugen", composed by Paul Taro Schmidt and choreographed by Ivana Balabanova, which premiered in early November 2024 at the IA-Space of the ZHdK. Together with stage designer, lighting designer, and choreographer Adriana Carlota Berwert, he newly created the music-theatre piece "Plus longs que mes brasโฆ Plus longs que moiโฆ", which premiered Oktober/November 2024 at Theater der Kรผnste, in Zรผrich. In April/Mai 2025 he also worked as a dramaturge in the creation of the piece "Dham" by choreographer Aleksandra Stoliarova.
