The Zurich University of the Arts is pleased to welcome Xavier Pfarrer as the new Head of PreCollege Music at ZHdK as of 1.1.2024. He takes over the position from Daniel Knecht, who will leave the ZHdK at the end of 2023 due to age. Xavier Pfarrer completed his artistic-pedagogical training with a major in piano at the Hochschule der Kรผnste Bern. At the St. Petersburg State Conservatory Rimsky-Korsakov he completed his studies with the Aspirantura in piano solo. This was followed by competition wins, prizes and concert tours in Europe, Russia and the USA. In Switzerland he is active as a pianist, teacher (Musikschule Basel), examiner, expert, as well as a course director (Kalaidos Musikhochschule).

PreCollege Music

The PreCollege Music of ZHdK optimally prepares interested students for admission to a Bachelor's program. It consists of versatile elective and compulsory modules in practice, theory, general music education and sensitizes for later studies as well as the professional realities of tomorrow.
