At this year’s Locarno Film Festival, the films “Lux Carne” and “Revier” will celebrate their world premieres. At the same time, the films have been selected for the “Pardi di domani” section in the national competition and are in the running for the “Best Swiss Newcomer Award”, which is endowed with CHF 15,000.
In “Lux Carne” a strict examination process regulates the population’s meat consumption: anyone who wants to eat meat must kill an animal. The young reporter Elie sets out to document the process in the slaughterhouse. However, only those who participate are allowed inside. Elie must face the act of killing. When she stands before the animal, her convictions are put to the test.
In the short film “Revier” Felix Scherrer narrates a documentary about a summer walk through Zurich that ends in a police check. Parks emerge from prison ruins, old buildings give way to new ones. On the first of May, rubber bullets fly, and a person is blinded.
