At this yearโs Locarno Film Festival, the films โLux Carneโ and โRevierโ will celebrate their world premieres. At the same time, the films have been selected for the โPardi di domaniโ section in the national competition and are in the running for the โBest Swiss Newcomer Awardโ, which is endowed with CHF 15,000.
In โLux Carneโ a strict examination process regulates the populationโs meat consumption: anyone who wants to eat meat must kill an animal. The young reporter Elie sets out to document the process in the slaughterhouse. However, only those who participate are allowed inside. Elie must face the act of killing. When she stands before the animal, her convictions are put to the test.
In the short film โRevierโ Felix Scherrer narrates a documentary about a summer walk through Zurich that ends in a police check. Parks emerge from prison ruins, old buildings give way to new ones. On the first of May, rubber bullets fly, and a person is blinded.
