The research report provides an overview of all research activities at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).

In 2024, 155 researchers worked on 79 projects in the research area. Overall, it was a very successful year: Research proposals of approximately CHF 3.8 million were approved, including five SNSF and 17 other third-party funded projects. In pictures, reading tips, event highlights, milestones and much more, the research units present their highlights of 2024.

Marijke Hoogenboom, Head of the Research Dossier, highlights the dimensions that will be decisive for the development of research at ZHdK in the future: international effectiveness, the definition of overarching profiling areas, the strengthening of professional and institutional networks, and the expansion and diversification of access to third-party funding. The five departments reflect on departmental research and the Research Dossier Commission provides an overview of the key issues shaping research at ZHdK in 2024.

The article ‘Collegium Helveticum – a place of exchange between disciplines’ looks at the successful joint sponsorship of the Collegium Helveticum by ZHdK in cooperation with ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. The Collegium's fellowship and event programmes connect international artists and scientists from a wide range of disciplines, creating an inspiring environment for interdisciplinary collaboration. This approach to collaboration strengthens ZHdK's role as a hub where art, research, technology and social discourse productively intersect.
