Tsukino Tanaka (17) and Yasemin Kayabay (15), students of Zurich Dance Academy (taZ), won a total of three prizes at the Prix de Lausanne 2022 (31st January - 6th February).
Tsukino Tanaka from Japan won overall 2nd place with a scholarship offered by Fondation Caris. She also won the "Best Swiss Candidate." With the scholarship, she will be able to train at a Prix de Lausanne partner company of her choice for one year.
Yasemin Kayabay from Turkey won the "Audience Favourite Prize".
Tanaka and Kayabay are students of Steffi Scherzer, the artistic director of Zurich Dance Academy.
The Prix de Lausanne was established in 1973 and has served as a springboard for aspiring professional classical dancers from all over the world ever since. A total of 70 selected candidates took part in the 50th edition of the competition, 20 of those reached the final round.
Performances in Zurich and Winterthur
The solo variations by Tsukino Tanaka and Yasemin Kayabay can be seen in the gala performance โfussspuren XVIIIโ by the Zurich Dance Academy - on June 25 and 26, 2022 in the Theatre Winterthur and on July 9, 2022 at the Zurich Opera House.
