"Zones of Potential Encounters" highlights six of the more than 85,000 objects inventoried by the SKKG in Winterthur. The foundation not only lends out its art and cultural treasures for exhibitions, but also invites third parties to actively engage with the objects and their potential meanings.
The exhibition was created as part of a cooperation project between the Master Art Education Curatorial Studies ZHdK, exhibition spaces oxyd and SKKG between September 2021 and May 2022. Sally Schonfeldt provided artistic support for the cooperation project.
The collection of the founder of the foundation, Bruno Stefanini, is multifaceted and has not yet been fully explored. Some objects point to conflict-related tensions. The examination of six selected objects is to be understood as an attempt to stimulate new associations and insights with regard to the functions and potentials of the collection.
The exhibition is conceived as a "zone of encounter" that allows multi-sensory access to the objects. "Zones of Potential Encounters" is an aesthetic experiment that allows us to sensually experience the objects in pluriversal narratives and stories, allowing us to encounter them through feeling as well as intellect.
