“Choreographing for multiple dancers is something that interests me a lot and which unfortunately in the independent scene is almost impossible to organize and fund. So, it was a huge blessing to have as many as five professional dancers to work with. Also, the bachelor’s course works together with a lot of interesting choreographers and it’s always great to be able to sit in a rehearsal and watch how experienced artists work with these 15-20 dancers.”
Audrey Wagner, MA Dance, Choreography
“The BA students are extremely professional and undergo a top-notch training! Which means we have our own company at ZHdK, which we were allowed to work with as master’s students. At the same time, it’s also an opportunity for us to try things out that don’t need to be perfect and to work and experiment with bodies and also fail. We’re all studying and learning, so trying things out and asking questions is perhaps even more legitimate here than in the professional sphere.”
Leo Gnazy, MA Dance, Choreography
“For me, these three weeks were great because we could exchange ideas and experiences; and, as one of our teachers so nicely put it, it was also an exercise in empathy. Choreographers and dancers immersed themselves in each other’s work, tirelessly trying to understand and help each other in ultimately achieving a shared vision. As a dancer, I gained a much better understanding of what choreography really involves.”
