“What’s next_Project» is the incubation programme of the ZHdK. It is aimed at ZHdK graduates and research staff who wish to develop projects with an entrepreneurial focus in the arts, education and design. From the 20 submissions, the jury selected three projects which will be supported by the “What’s next_Project” incubation programme.

The 12-month programme starts in January 2025 and includes financial support of CHF 20’000 per project, mentoring & coaching, access to the ZHdK infrastructure, communication and networking opportunities. What’s next_Project is supported by Zürcher Kantonalbank.

The three funded projects all originate from the ZHdK Department of Design:

    Para by Tabea Wschiansky
Bachelor's Major in Industrial Design (2023)

Tabea's work includes innovative outerwear designed specifically for wheelchair users, including an adjustable mackintosh and leg protector. Carefully placed pockets and zips ensure easy access and improved usability.

    ON FIRE by Simona Boscardin
    Bachelor's Major in Cast/Audiovisuelle Medien (2023)

The satirical news programme aims to appeal to a younger audience by taking a humorous look at news and politics in Switzerland, making it easier for them to keep up to date.

    Reliq by Dzhuliia Kolodko
Master's Major in Interaction Design (2024)

The project introduces dynamic media for a more personalised museum experience. Through the use of modern technology, Reliq redefines curatorial practice and enables visitors to engage more deeply with artworks through background information and simplified navigation. The project is supported by the Gebert Rüf Foundation, Pro Helvetia and the ETH Student Project House.

The Handover Event will also take place online on Wednesday 22 January 2025, from 15:00 to 17:00 h. The Class of 2024 will reflect on the past 12 months and the new incubatees will introduce themselves. Register here.
