Prof. Dr rer. nat. Anna Lisa Martin-Niedecken, Head of the Institute for Design Research and the Digital Health Design Living Lab, is a new member of the Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). She will assume her position on 1 April 2025.

The Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is responsible for scientific evaluation and for the SNSF's funding policy. As part of its reorganisation, the SNSF elected a new Research Council at the beginning of December 2024, strategically expanding it. In addition to the 52 re-elected members of the previous Research Council, 15 new members were selected from almost 200 applications. They complement the expertise of the body in key areas: in the future, the Research Council will consist of five programme committees and one policy committee.

Anna Lisa Martin-Niedecken has been entrusted with two mandates. Firstly, she will be involved in the ‘Thematic and Solution-Oriented Research’ committee, which oversees the funding, monitoring, and integration of thematic research in the Swiss research landscape. It promotes a dialogue between research, society, economy, and politics, focusing on scientific depth and practical solutions to societal challenges. Secondly, she will be a member of the ‘Policy Committee’, which is responsible for the analysis, coordination and further development of the SNSF's overarching funding policies.

We congratulate Anna Lisa Martin-Niedecken on her election to the Research Council and wish her every success in this responsible role.
