The Berlinale Classics series opens on 21.2.2020 with the performance of the silent film classic 'Das Wachsfigurenkabinett' from 1924. The new film music combines five acoustic instruments with keyboards and live electronics to illuminate the wax museum in all its arabesques. Just as the film unites many facets of art and genre cinema, the music of Bernd Schultheis, Olav Lervik and Jan Kohl (first lecturer, last alumnus composition for film, theatre and media at the ZHdK) also moves along a fine line between new music and film music, folk music and pop. In the commissioned work of ZDF/ARTE, the composers create an intelligent and amusing play of musical forms and colours.

The film will be broadcast on Arte on 24.2.2020.
