Daniela Keiser, born 1963 in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, works as a conceptual and installation artist. She studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel as well as at the Hochschule der Künste Zürich and has been teaching at the Hochschule der Künste Bern since 2008. Various studio and foreign stays have taken her to London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Cairo and Turkey. Her work is represented in various public collections, such as the Fotomuseum Winterthur, the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Basel and the Swiss National Library Bern.
In her artistic work, Daniela Keiser concentrates primarily on photography and language, which she translates into various exhibition and presentation formats. The artist has been involved with translation since the beginning of her artistic career. Since 1997 numerous works and installations have been created, which the artist summarizes under the term "In and Out of Translation". In mostly extensive projects and installations, groups and series, the artist explores the perceptual boundaries of the viewer.
The Georg Fischer Prize, named after Georg Fischer AG, is the most important cultural prize of the city of Schaffhausen and endowed with 15,000 Swiss francs. As a rule, it is awarded every two to three years to people working in the cultural sector who come from or work in Schaffhausen. The prize is awarded by the Georg Fischer Foundation Board of Trustees in recognition of Daniela Keiser's remarkable achievements as a conceptual and installation artist.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, 2 December 2018 at 11 a.m. in the lecture hall of the Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen. In an interview with Isabelle Köpfli, research assistant at the Museum zu Allerheiligen, Daniela Keiser will give an insight into her work.
