The graduation film “1:10” by Bachelor of Film alumnus Sinan Taner received a “Special Mention” at the 28th Winterthur Short Film Festival during the Industry Awards ceremony.
In its reasoning for the award, the jury writes: “This ambitious and intelligent film explores themes such as racism, classism, and masculinity within the microcosm of a school. It intertwines social critique with personal narratives to create a story that reflects both synaptic connections and structural dynamics. Through its subtle and thoughtful portrayal of the causes and effects of violence, the director illuminates how small actions resonate within a complex social fabric. We wish to give special recognition to this remarkable directorial work.”
Alongside “1:10”, “Who Runs the World” by Aiyana de Vree also celebrated its world premiere at the festival’s Film School Day.
