The “Design Prize Switzerland” award ceremony took place in Langenthal on 3 November 2023. Every two years, the prize honours outstanding achievements in design. Prizes were awarded in the following seven categories: Circular Design, Food Design, Inclusive Design, Furniture Design, Interior Design, Product Design und Young Professionals.

ZHdK has good reason to celebrate, as two projects from the Department of Design have been honoured with the “Design Prize Switzerland”:

“3FOLD” won in the “Product Design” category: ZHdK design researchers have developed an innovative surgical tool with which pacemakers can be implanted safely and quickly. The special feature of this tool is a pouch made of biosynthetic material into which the pacemaker is inserted to prevent the formation of scar tissue.

“finally.” was honoured in the “Inclusive Design” category: “finally.” accompanies people in their final phase of life. The creators of “finally.” focus on guidelines for End-of-Life Care and human- or patient-centred design. Their aim is to combine aesthetics and function, care and nurturing as well as life and death.
