On University Day, the ZHdK honours personalities who have rendered outstanding services to the interests of the ZHdK or who have already achieved outstanding results at an early age. Two representatives of the performing arts, Gardi Hutter and Aram Hasler, received the award. Rector Thomas D. Meier personally presented the prizes at a ceremony.
Gardi Hutter: female role model for clown theatre
Gardi Hutter's clownish female figures are clumsy and angry, weird and crazy, touching and poetic and have been delighting audiences worldwide for almost forty years. The artist and ZHdK-Alumna is internationally regarded as the female role model for clown theatre. In 1977 Hutter completed her training as an actress and theatre pedagogue at the Schauspiel Akademie in Zurich.
Aram Hasler: exceptional talent at the renowned Nederlands Dans Theater
For over ten years, the Zurich-based Aram Hasler has been a member of the renowned Nederlands Dans Theater, whose contemporary company sets international standards in dance quality and innovation. Even as a dancer in the Junior Compagnie, the exceptional dancer convinced with her creativity and interpretive power. Aram Hasler is a graduate of the Zurich Dance Academy, which belongs to the ZHdK.
Honorary title of the ZHdK
The ZHdK honorary titles are awarded once a year and are not associated with any financial support. Members of the ZHdK can nominate award winners. The university management, advised by a committee, decides on the award.
